Our Mission

About HAARAN

HAARAN, founded in 2008 by Abdi Noor Matan in Maine, USA, is a disability-focused organization dedicated to creating an inclusive society where persons with disabilities and vulnerable individuals are empowered to lead dignified lives. Initially addressing the challenges of Somali immigrants, HAARAN expanded to the Horn of Africa in 2013, establishing chapters in Kenya and Somalia to tackle issues such as poverty, stigmatization, and isolation.

Rooted in the principle that disability rights are human rights, HAARAN promotes equality and inclusion through a Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) approach, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals to ensure no one is left behind. Today, HAARAN operates in Kenya and Somalia, transforming lives by fostering independence, participation, and resilience for the most marginalized.

Our Commitment

Our initiatives span critical areas such as health and rehabilitation, inclusive education, economic empowerment, climate resilience, and governance. By partnering with communities, donors, and stakeholders, HAARAN drives sustainable change, ensuring no one is left behind
